October (Lokakuu), Saima Harmaja

Saima Harmaja 4
.
Harmaja died of tuberculosis at 23. A short life in very difficult times…
.
Glimmers over mucky field
crude the light of lanterns’ yield.
Clatters loud the window pane
tortured by the rain.
.
Like a prince he wrapped around
aching head a fable’s sound.
Why regret? I’ve surely found
life by law is bound.
.
Sodden, sodden mist it seeps
into roofs and earth and trees.
God, almighty God, oh please!
Oh, will it ever cease!
 .
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
 –
Yli kentän likaisen
raaka valo lyhtyjen.
Värisevää ikkunaa
sade kiduttaa.
 .
Niinkuin prinssi kietoi hän
satuun pääni särkevän.
Miksi petyin? Tiesinhän
lait elämän.
 .
Märkää, märkää sumua
maassa, puissa, katoilla.
Jumala, oi Jumala!
näin voiko jatkua!
.
